Tailored Travel Talk - en route
Luxury transportation…
In January 2011 Tailored Travel took procession of our new Kia Carnival vehicle. A powerful and very luxurious people mover, sunroof, airco, leather seats which comfortably accommodate 4 people and the driver as well as oodles of space for luggage and our usual extras like our extensive library, snacks, fruit, umbrella’s etc. (www.kia.co.nz/vehicles/carnival.aspx)
New Zealand Traffic Jams…
On our travels around the South Island we often encountered the ‘New Zealand traffic jam’ of ‘wandering’ sheep. This particular one was a large mob on the road to Te Anau. Just grab the camera, be a tourist for a minute and be patient.
Fishing for the big one…
In January I hosted Mike and Randy (with their wives Janice and Ronda) from Georgia, USA - and arranged for them to go out fishing with an experienced local guide in the Wanaka region to catch the big one.…as Randy did. (He’s holding it with the biggest smile)
Wine and Art …..
In February we hosted the Chester’s who were interested in the temporarily display of sculptures from local artists at the Rippon vineyard alongside Lake Wanaka; New Zealand’s most scenic winery and vineyard. Of course, they tasted the wines too…. (www.rippon.co.nz)
Christchurch earthquake…
We missed the devastating earthquake in Christchurch of Feb.22nd by 3 ½ hours; having lunch south of the city at Fairlie, we felt the tremors. We continued the trip and Diana and Jack left Christchurch safely and are still on a cruise boat somewhere… (www.christchurchnz.co.nz)
Next time: The colors of autumn…..
Best wishes |
