Tailored Travel Talk - en route; looking back at 2011
Luxury transportation …
In January 2011 Tailored Travel took possession of our new Kia Carnival vehicle. A powerful and very luxurious people mover, sunroof, airco, leather seats which comfortably accommodate 4 people and the driver as well as oodles of space for luggage and our usual extras like our extensive library, snacks, fruit, umbrella’s etc. (www.kia.co.nz/)
Walking without the crowds ...
Capturing the isolation of New Zealand in the off-season, Robin and Walter walk along the Castle Hill track for a short hike in a unique area, formed millions of years ago and steeped in Maori history. Many of these short ‘hidden’ treasures are abound along our custom tours.
New Zealand in early spring …
When traveling in early spring (September/ October), or early autumn (March / April) there may be a small chance of snowy mountaintops as we encountered last September. Otherwise, this is a very quiet and colorful time to visit New Zealand.
Christchurch earthquake ...
After the February 22nd, earthquake many historic and other buildings were destroyed. Parts of the CBD (a few blocks downtown) are still cordoned off, and a walkway was opened up to get close to the Christchurch icon; the cathedral. Note that everything is operating again. There is even a Re-start mall, constructed from shipping containers. See www.christchurchnz.co.nz
