Spring 2009
Kia Ora Fellow Travelers,
Spring in New Zealand
Newborn lambs in the paddocks, flowering fruit trees, daffodils and magnolias out… yes spring has sprung in New Zealand. And I have already finished a custom tour, this time returning guests discovering the North Island (having done the South 2 years ago) See www.krauss.ws and click on travel, New Zealand 2009 for their impressions.
Environment
Tailored Travel has been awarded the Qualmark “Enviro Bronze” certification (borderline silver) in addition to the already recognized “Endorsed Visitor Activity” See www.qualmark.co.nz
Daylight Savings
New Zealand will turn the clocks forward on September 27th this year. Earlier and longer daylight savings will benefit many.
Sport
Still two years out and New Zealand is gearing up and getting very excited about hosting the World Cup Rugby. For 44 days in September and October 2011, a total of 48 matches will be played in 13 regions between 20 of the big Rugby nations of the world. For those unfamiliar with rugby; it’s like American football but without all the padding and protection, no forward passing and fast flowing (no stopping after tackles) see: www.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rugby_union
Season’s Travel
When you are seriously considering traveling to New Zealand you are encouraged to check early for availability. The few options for your personal custom tour which are still available are two weeks early/ mid December and mid March onwards. Contact me soon! Robert@customtours.co.nz
Wine
Our New Zealand wine industry faces some interesting times, with exports up 24% (to NZ$992 million) The number of wineries grew to a total of 643 and the production area now is 31,057 hectares, yielding an average of 9.5 tonnes per hectare. The wine industry adds NZ$ 1.28 billion to our GDP. See: http://www.nzwine.com/statistics
North American Visit
I will be back visiting North America in May 2010 to talk to potential guests. Please do contact me if you know of people I should talk to (and convince them to travel with Tailored travel) and I will try and plan this in.
Best wishes |
